The Vision: Why We Rebranded

2023 marked an exciting milestone for Billhop. As our platform evolved, so did our need for a modern, intuitive, and visually compelling website. Our goal? To create an online experience that not only looks great but also clearly communicates how Billhop simplifies payments for businesses.

We set out to enhance brand consistency, user experience, and visual appeal, ensuring that every visitor—whether a new user or a long-time customer—feels engaged and informed.

The Colour Refresh: A Bold Yet Functional Choice

Moving away from our older colour scheme, we opted for a more vibrant and tech-forward palette. We wanted colours that stood out while maintaining a professional yet welcoming tone. After exploring different combinations, we landed on a blend of deep purples, energetic blues, and fresh yellows—hues that communicate trust, innovation, and energy.

We also introduced 20% hue variations in illustrations and background elements to create a more dynamic, layered look while ensuring accessibility and readability across all devices.

Prime Screen Space

We needed to ensure that users instantly understood what the business offers without having to scroll. To achieve this, I chose to feature an image of our web app’s user interface as the hero image on the landing page, making the value proposition clear at first glance.

Modernising the Illustrations

Illustrations play a significant role in how users experience our brand. We shifted from traditional, playful visuals to a more sleek and modern aesthetic that aligns with Billhop's positioning as a tech-driven solution.

The updated illustrations are:

  • More streamlined and geometric, reinforcing a sense of structure and reliability.

  • Minimalist but expressive, focusing on key actions like making payments, managing invoices, and improving cash flow.

  • Infused with movement, using subtle gradients and depth to convey efficiency and speed.

This new approach ensures that every graphic element contributes to the overall narrative: Billhop is a modern, seamless, and innovative way to handle business payments.

Incorporating Branding into the Product UI

A key challenge was ensuring that the refreshed branding translated effectively into the product’s UI. The new colours and styles had to be seamlessly integrated into our design system library, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.

To achieve this, we leveraged Figma Tokens to standardize colour applications, typography, and components. This allowed us to:

  • Maintain uniformity in UI elements across different screens.

  • Ensure accessibility by adjusting contrasts and readability standards.

  • Streamline future updates, making it easier to evolve our design over time.

By embedding these changes into the product interface, we ensured that the rebrand wasn’t just cosmetic—it became an integral part of the Billhop user experience.

The Impact: A More Cohesive User Experience

The rebrand wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about making the website more user-friendly and intuitive. From clearer calls-to-action to an improved visual hierarchy, every decision was made to enhance navigation, clarity, and engagement.

Final Thoughts

Branding is more than just a logo or a colour scheme—it’s about how users feel when they interact with your platform. With this website revamp, we’ve ensured that Billhop’s digital presence reflects its core mission: empowering businesses with smarter, more efficient payment solutions.
